Absent Note / Absence Note

Every now and then we succumb to that attitude where we just want to say the heck with it and get away from the drudgery of our jobs.  People in the workplace today are a culture of individuals that are constantly taken advantage of, overworked, and definitely way underpaid.  Some people would give anything for an extra day off here and there but the demands of the job are such that all they accomplish is falling out of the good graces of the boss and even being reprimanded for missing work.

The problem is that you need justification and validation of any time away from the job.  Well that day has arrived.  There are websites that sell downloadable programs loaded with various forms like an absence note that you can turn in when you return to work.  And the absent note is just one of several (up to 21) different excusals, forms, and notes that you can use in order to get away from the workplace for a day or more and regain some of your long lost sanity.

More importantly, if the stress of the office is getting to you, this is something you don’t want to mess around with.  Stress is very real and very dangerous to say the least.  You can develop backaches, chronic migraines, and occasionally (and most seriously) high blood pressure --- and that can kill you.  As blunt as that may sound it is a fact.  So now the idea of a fake doctor’s note or an absence note doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

Since there is more than one of these sites to be found on the internet, you should probably treat the situation just like you would when you’re shopping for a quality product at a good price.  There are several characteristics to look for when you shop for these products.  After all, it’s all about getting your money’s worth.  Here are some key things to look for when shopping for these types of products.

Make sure it is an immediately-downloadable product.  Surprisingly, some sites don’t offer the download feature so you could be waiting for your absent note (as well as the other forms) for a while.  Look for sites that have the most professionally designed forms as this is obviously a necessity.  You don’t want to turn in an absence note that looks like it was written by “Epstein’s mother” (Welcome Back, Kotter).  You also want to make sure that you can edit the forms in case you need to use it more than once.  Finally, make sure that the product has the capability to be updated anytime there are revisions and upgrades needed.

Despite the fact that it seems a bit unethical to dummy up an absence note, what you need to consider is the fact that these sites wouldn’t exist were it not for the fact that someone felt the need to create them.  But the bottom line is that it is a real shame that it has come down to doing something like this.  Were it not for the fact that bosses everywhere take full advantage of their employees or that stress levels have gotten so ridiculously high on the job, chances are none of this would’ve ever become necessary
